SRAM drivetrains have been all the rage in mountain bike drivetrains recently, and now there’s a new one. Only, this one will only be available if you buy a complete bike with it. The new S-1000 Eagle drivetrain promises to be the most affordable option yet, but for now, you’ll only find it on complete bikes as a stock spec.
In addition to the S-1000, SRAM is also introducing the new DB8 Stealth brakes. SRAM says these two products aim to bring the dream of rugged performance to more riders.

The Stealth lever design places the hose parallel to the handlebar, allowing for a sleeker, more modern ride. SRAM says it shouldn’t be surprising that they have “Code-like power” since the DB8 Stealth uses a similar caliper architecture and existing brake pads.

This derailleur is the entry point into the Eagle Drivetrain ecosystem. The S-1000 Eagle derailleur shares the same architecture as SRAM’s GX Eagle drivetrain. The full-mount design mounts around the wheel axle on UDH-equipped bikes. It also features what SRAM calls Cassette Mapping, or “the marriage of derailleur firmware and hardware with our T-Type cassettes, to deliver the best shifting under load. Even under the added power of an e-MTB.”
Like all Eagle Transmission derailleurs, the S-1000 is rebuildable. It features replaceable skid plates and a two-piece outer link. It features a removable cage assembly that simply twists off. Featuring a sleek black-on-black appearance, it can be mixed and matched with other components in the T-Type ecosystem.
The S-1000 also features SRAM’s new Drag Spring Cage spring damper for reliable chain retention and long-term reliability.
