Sports jobs that are hot at the moment, from marketing to women’s teams

More jobs open in sports while the new and emerging leagues find their place and their private capital in the sector.

Sports teams, in particular, create more jobs. They are looking for executives and senior executives in key areas such as marketing and income, “President of Excel Search & Advisory told Chad Biagra,” told Business Insider.

Excel Search & Advisory is the executive research branch of the Excel Sports Management Sports agency. The company, previously called Nolan Partners, has existed for about 20 years. It helps sports teams, Olympic federations and media companies to fill direction roles on and off the field.

Biagini has broken the most requested senior positions he is seeing in sport right now and the best ways to land them.

Marketing leaders are “essential” in sports at the moment, he said. Historically, most of the teams focused on fans on the local market where they played. Now their fans can be worldwide. Marketing leaders are essential for this development.

Companies are increasingly turning to marketing of the talents of major public brands outside the industry, such as Airbnb, Marriott and Microsoft.

“More and more sports teams realize that they are media companies and that they are in a war to try to obtain customers and income against other major brands, both in and outside sports”, Biagini.

The demand also increases for the heads of commerce and income and the roles of senior similar in sports, said Biagra. This may include leaders focused on areas such as ticket office, partnerships and experiences. Sports companies find talents for these roles in adjacent sectors, such as media, entertainment, games or even hospitality or advice.

The recent investment in investment in sports teams and other companies largely stimulates this emphasis on the roles of marketing, sales and income.

“While the investment capital is part of more sports teams, most of them are watching and recognize, if we invest a certain amount of capital, we can considerably increase the evaluation by investing and fueling current success,” said Biagra.

The rise of female sports creates a multitude of new jobs

As female sports become more common, the category also creates more jobs.

“Female sports are also hot at the moment,” he said.

Biagini helped place C-Suite leaders in women’s teams in European football, the National Women’s Soccer League and the WNBA. He has also seen more general director general opening recently opened in WNBA and coaching jobs in the NWSL.

Part of the growth comes from expansion teams in these leagues and in football clubs in Europe, as well as in other fields of female sports.

“It also creates a whole new multitude of jobs,” said Biagini.

He said that the rise in female sports also attracts new talents.

“A few years ago, attracting talents to this space was not the same as what it is,” said Biagra. “Now you have hungry and impatient and enthusiastic people at the idea of ​​moving into female sports.”

Sports teams lead to employment growth

Looking through industry, Biagini said he had seen sports teams develop the most in terms of number of heads and global compensation.

Biagini said he had seen league offices, starting to reduce certain roles in the past 12 months, as in their internal advice and talent acquisition divisions. The sports media, he said, were the most difficult blow from a point of view of the growth of jobs, because certain roles are outsourced to independent entrepreneurs, and the industry is faced with competition from streaming and digital.

In the competitive world of sports, the networking force is one of the most important skills that candidates may have.

“Establish relationships with people,” said Biagini. “Relations are not going well if you only ask them for favors and you do not really invest. The best relationships are those where people invest in each other.”
