Leeds United’s appeal regarding Pascal Struijk’s red card to Liverpool has been dismissed by the FA.
Struijk’s tackle on Harvey Elliott led the young Reds to dislocate his ankle and be taken to hospital, eventually having surgery on the problem.
Struijk received a red card, although after the game Elliott accepted the Leeds man’s apology and insisted he was not responsible for his injury and should not have been sent off.
Leeds appealed the decision, but it was upheld by the FA meaning Struijk will now serve a three-match suspension.
The appeal having failed, Strujik will now be suspended for Leeds’ game at Newcastle on Friday, the Carabao Cup draw at Fulham four days later and the home clash with West Ham on the following Saturday.
