Lucas Hernandez is appealing a six-month prison sentence imposed on him for violating a restraining order he received in 2017 for assaulting his wife.

The Bayern Munich defender was summoned to court in Madrid on October 19 and will then have 10 days to voluntarily enter prison.

Hernandez is a regular at France and Bayern Munich

Four years ago, France international Hernandez was sentenced to 31 days of community service for assaulting Amelia Ossa Llorente while playing for Atletico Madrid.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Germany in 2019, also received an injunction not to be within 500 meters of his partner, which he then broke.

Ms Llorente was also sentenced to 31 days of community service for violence, assault and property damage, while Hernandez was found guilty of domestic violence against her.

Ms Llorente was taken to hospital with minor injuries, but neither has filed a complaint.

After receiving the restraint order, Hernandez was found defying the court order when he landed in Madrid with his wife after their wedding and honeymoon.

Hernandez was an unused replacement when France won the UEFA Nations League final 2-1 over Spain.
