Chris Eubank Jr put middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at the top of his list of targets for a huge fight in December.
The 31-year-old is already reflecting on his fight against German minnow Sven Elbir at Wembley Arena on October 2.
Having fought only once in the past 21 months, Eubank Jr is eager to get his career back on track.
The Briton’s options are endless if he gets over Elbir unscathed, in a division filled with global superstars and domestic talent.
A rematch against Billy Joe Saunders is often talked about, as everyone wants a chance against King Canelo Alvarez, pound for pound.
However, Eubank Jr’s eyes are on Golovkin, the imperious IBF champion with an iconic 41-1-1 record.
The Kazakhstan legend is set to face Ryota Murata for the WBA title in Tokyo on December 28, but the COVID situation in Japan has cast that fight into question.
With Canelo continuing to dominate the super middleweight division, interim WBA champion Eubank Jr is arguably in the best position to face Golovkin, who has spoken of his desire to fight in England again after beating Kell Brook. in 2016.
However, “Next Gen” refuses to rule out a host of other options, including Jermall Charlo, Demetrius Andrade and Liam Williams – all of which could pave the way for Eubank Jr to fight “GGG” next summer instead.
“We are on the brink.” Eubank Jr told talkSPORT of his desire for a mega fight. “This [Elbir] is a solid guy, 18-1, he knows what he’s doing.
“My job is to get past him and then to December – a big name or a world title fight, 100%.
“I’ve had a few issues over the last few months with the good fight at this particular point in my career.
“After that, everything is on fire.”
He added, “December is a big name or a world title fight. There are so many names out there.
“[Jermall] Charlo, [Demetrius] Andrade, [Liam] Williams is a domestic fight that a lot of people have talked about.
“Saunders, Canelo, Golovkin. Is there a guy at the top of the list? Of course, I would say Golovkin is at the top of the list.
“But you can’t put all your eggs in one basket and I don’t need them.” There are great fights to be had.
“For me, it’s just about being active and giving the fans what they want to see.”
