Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes Brentford striker Ivan Toney deserves a call-up to England.
The 25-year-old ace has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League with the Bees this season.
He has scored two goals and two assists in six appearances so far this season, while also impressing with his “full game”.
Toney was the league’s top scorer last season, scoring 31 goals, helping Brentford reach the play-off final and promote to the top flight.
In the 3-3 draw against Liverpool, the center-forward “intimidated” the Reds’ defense, giving Virgil van Dijk a scorching spell.
And Bent urged England manager Gareth Soutgate to give Toney an opportunity on the international stage.
“I think he was absolutely brilliant. You’re starting to look for who’s playing better than him right now, and he’s English – no one !, Bent told talkSPORT.
“Harry Kane has obviously started slowly and he will play as England captain.
“Dominic Calvert-Lewin was injured. Danny Ings – hit by a drought.
“Watkins did well, but for me, Ivan Toney, I think he has a full game with a few goals and his full game in terms of how he intimidated Liverpool as well.
“Good battle between him and Van Dijk. I think he deserves it, really.
