Spectrum outage disrupts internet, TV and phone services across Texas

Spectrum announced an outage Tuesday afternoon that is affecting customers across Texas.
UPDATE (8:40 p.m.) – Spectrum has released a statement saying service has been restored to those in Texas affected by Hurricane Beryl.
On Tuesday, services were interrupted for thousands of people across the state of Texas due to damage to a Spectrum tower from Hurricane Beryl.

UPDATE (5:45 p.m.) – Spectrum has issued an official update on the ongoing internet service outage across Texas.
Spectrum posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) stating that the outage was caused by a third-party infrastructure issue; a result of Hurricane Beryl.
Spectrum also said crews in the region are working as quickly as possible to restore service in the state.

UPDATE (5:00 p.m.) – Concerns are growing over the ongoing statewide Spectrum outage.
In San Antonio, University Health experienced some internet outages, particularly at its call center.
The Methodist hospital system has not experienced any outages related to the Spectrum outage.
Other hospitals in the area have not yet responded to our request for comment.
We will update this story as the situation evolves.

UPDATE (4:00 p.m.) – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Facebook saying a tower in Houston caused the outage.
Authorities say a tower in Houston was damaged in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, impacting services across Texas.
The office also says people with Spectrum phone service may have difficulty contacting 911.

Authorities said the service disruption affects their internet, cable television and telephone services.
Downdetector said Spectrum received more than 31,000 outage reports in the past hour.
It is unclear whether the outage is linked to Beryl, which made landfall on Monday and knocked out power to more than two million people.
Authorities said they were working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
