Spain risks breaking German law with Lamine Yamal in next match

Spain risk breaking the law in Germany if they play Lamine Yamal on Monday evening.

Spain have looked one of the most dangerous teams this summer at Euro 2024, thanks in part to their wing prodigy, Yamal, who is just 16 years old.

However, the Spanish FA could be prepared to break the law on Monday night if the Barcelona ace plays the full 90 minutes against Albania.

Indeed, according to German law, people under 18 are not allowed to work after 8 p.m.

According to BILD, via Cadena Cope, there are exceptions to the rule for athletes, who are allowed to play until 11 p.m.

However, this cutoff point does not occur after the full-time whistle and is instead marked after shower time and media work.

While Spain will face Albania on Monday evening at 8 p.m., the turnaround could be tight if Yamal plays the full 90 minutes.

La Roja has been told it could face a potential fine of €30,000 (£25,350.69) if it breaks the law.

However, this depends on the German authorities deciding to act, which seems unlikely at present.

The law was put in place to prevent young people from being exploited in the labor market and to protect their safety and well-being.

Instead, Yamal has been the star of the show for Spain and already looks a key player under Luis de la Fuente.

Spain have already qualified from their group after beating Croatia 3-0 and Italy 1-0.

Yamal provided an assist in their opening match against the Croatians.

This comes after a brilliant campaign at Barcelona where he broke into the first team under Xavi to become a regular starter.

He has missed just one La Liga match, scoring five goals and providing five assists, and already has nine caps for his country.
