The drought for the favorites of Kentucky Derby continues while the sovereign claimed victory in “The Run for the Roses”.
The sovereign, mounted by the Junior Alvarado and formed by Bill Mott, moved away from the favorite horse – journalism – in the section to win the victory.
This is the second victory of Kentucky Derby for Bill Mott – which won for the last time with Country House in 2019 on a controversial disqualification.
Journalism returned home in second place. Baeza, the last horse at the starting gate, finished third.
Soverignty’s victory was not a total surprise. The horse started the day as the second favorite in disagreement of 5-1.
