Southern California faces another storm, bringing rain and cold temperatures – Orange County Register

Another late-season storm will hit Southern California tomorrow, dropping temperatures and bringing rain that could last through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

“The cooling trend will spread across the interior by Friday as the overland flow strengthens ahead of another late-season upper cold low moving southward along the West Coast,” according to National Weather Service.

“Low clouds and fog will move into the valleys Friday morning, with highs falling into the 60s to 70s.”

Rain is expected to begin falling along the Central Coast Friday evening, reaching Los Angeles County Saturday morning or afternoon, forecasters said.

In the Inland and Orange County region, 0.1 to 0.2 inches of rain is expected Saturday afternoon through evening. A few areas will see passing showers in the region, said Brian Adams, NWS meteorologist.

Early forecasts suggest that most of Los Angeles County will receive about a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain, with up to an inch falling in the mountains, although some models show the region would receive twice that. quantities.

Winds in Riverside and San Bernardino County will range from 10 to 35 miles per hour Saturday.

Snow levels will initially fall to around 6,000 feet, with 5 to 10 inches of snow expected. By Sunday morning, snow could fall to elevations as low as 3,500 feet, meaning a possibility of light snow on the Grapevine section of the Golden State Highway (5), according to the NWS.

Inland mountains, including the Wrightwood and Mount Baldy areas, will experience three to four inches of snow above 6,000 feet. Lower Mountain can expect a lower sum, Adams said.

Inland temperatures are expected to reach 40°C on Sunday morning following rain on Saturday.

The Los Angeles area faces a 10% chance of thunderstorms Saturday.

There will also be an additional chance for more showers or possibly thunderstorms Sunday morning, according to the NWS.

“A drying and warming trend will begin on Monday and last through next week,” forecasters said. “The 80s are possible as early as next Wednesday in the warmer valleys.”
