After a three-week break, South Park is set to make a triumphant return Wednesday, live on Comedy Central and Paramount+, and we might just get our first glimpse of Satan and Donald Trump’s little bundle of joy.
According to a press release issued Wednesday, the new episode, titled “Twisted Christian,” will feature Eric Cartman as he becomes possessed and “could be the key to stopping the Antichrist.” A brief promotional clip released Wednesday shows Mr. Garrison and another South Park Elementary staff member being told, “Your students seem to belong to some sort of cult involving the numbers six and seven.” Cut to Cartman, Butters, Tweak and other students shouting “6, 7” with joy and laughter.
But what does this mean?
To refresh the memory on where things left off in the series’ two backdrops, the titular mountain town of Colorado and Washington, D.C., Satan and Donald Trump’s clandestine affair was revealed by the media, along with the fact that Satan is pregnant with the Antichrist – and is expected to happen any day now.
The Satan-Trump Washington plot thread and the events of South Park have tangentially merged throughout the season, notably following a lawsuit filed by the show’s fictional version of Trump to bankrupt the city and the scandalous PSA that followed. And, at the end of the September 3 episode, the young girls of South Park, helped by Butters, used a cursed Labubu to summon a demon. Who entered through the portal of hell? Satan and Trump, of course.
The next episode bypassed this plot thread to focus more on the Israel-Gaza conflict and Kyle’s mother – who is Cartman’s favorite subject and person to sing about – in a sort of bottle episode, which did not advance the main storyline of the season. That is, aside from the twists and turns of Trump trying to kill his unborn baby to save his nights at Mar-a-Lago.
Wednesday night’s episode is the sixth of the 27th season of South Parkwho debuted on Comedy Central in 1997 and has since skewered celebrities, politicians, and anyone else he wants with his unique biting satire. Additional new episodes of the final season will air October 29, November 12, November 26 and December 10, according to Comedy Central.
New episodes of South Park will be available to stream on Paramount+ and on-demand from TV providers following the premiere.
