SEOUL, South Korea (AP)-South Korea soldiers fired warning shots after the North Korean soldiers crossed the tight rivals on Tuesday, South Korean officials said the first border intrusion known by North Korea in almost a year.
Violent confrontations and blood effusions have sometimes occurred on the highly fortified border of Koreas, called the demilitarized area. But Tuesday’s incident will probably not degenerate, because it did not cause victims on each side and North Korea was not burned.
About 10 North Korean soldiers – certain weapons weapons – violated the military demarcation line in the East section of the DMZ at 5 p.m., they returned to North Korea after the warnings of South Korean and fired warning fire, said the Chiefs of South Korea in a statement.
The Army of South Korea said that it closely monitored North Korean activities. He said that North Korea had not returned by fire.
In June of last year, the North Korean troops violated the border three times, which prompted South Korea to shoot war. Incidents occurred when Koreas were involved in cold -style campaigns such as balloon launches and propaganda emissions, but they have not become a major source of tensions.
The South Korea soldiers evaluated at the time that the North Korean soldiers did not deliberately commit the border intrusion and that the site was a wooded area where the military demarcation lines were not clearly visible. Observers said North Korean soldiers may have accidentally crossed the border while adding anti-tank barriers, planting mines or engaging in other works to stimulate borders.
The reason for Tuesday’s border crossing by North Korean soldiers was not immediately clear.
The Army of South Korea said in late March that North Korea took up leading works such as strengthening barbed wire fences. The South Korean media, citing the army, reported that the North Korean soldiers may have involuntarily intrusion the territory of South Korea on Tuesday during a patrol mission before unpertified front line work.

In October, North Korea said it would strengthen defense structures at the border to face “conflictual hysteria” by the South Korean and American forces. This was considered an effort to strengthen its first -line security posture and prevent its soldiers and citizens from defection in South Korea.
The DMZ 4 kilometers of 248 kilometers (155 miles), 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) is one of the most armed borders in the world. It is estimated that 2 million mines are dotted inside and near the border, which is also kept by fences of barbed wire, tank traps and combat troops on both sides. It was a legacy of the Korean War of 1950-1953, which ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
The animosities between Koreas are now high while the North Korean leader Kim Jong continues to display his military nuclear capacities and to align himself with Russia on the war of President Vladimir Putin against Ukraine. Kim also ignores Seoul and Washington calls to resume denuclearization negotiations.
Since its inauguration of January 20, US President Donald Trump has said he would contact Kim again to relaunch diplomacy. North Korea has not responded to Trump’s remarks and says that American hostilities against this have deepened since the inauguration of Trump. Experts say that Kim could possibly resume talks with Trump, hoping that its advanced nuclear program would help North Korea win greater American dealerships.
South Korea, on the other hand, is experiencing a leadership vacuum after the eviction of President Yoon Suk Yeol last week for its unhappy imposition of martial law. Yoon’s push to extend military exercises with the United States had merged North Korea. __
