Upcoming roadway repairs on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive will result in lane closures starting next week, with road work expected to continue until mid-June, officials said.
The work is part of the city’s “Arterial Resurfacing Program,” which includes repairing segments of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive from Roosevelt Road to 31st Street, with work planned for both the northbound and southbound lanes.
Lane closures are expected to begin Monday, April 22, while southbound lane closures will be in effect until May 6. During this period, one lane will remain closed daily from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m., while three lanes will be closed during working hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The second stage of work will take place from May 6 to 20, when northbound closures will be in effect.
During this period, one lane will remain closed daily from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m., while three lanes will be closed during working hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
From May 20 to June 3, southbound closures will again be in effect, with two lanes closed daily from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. and three lanes closed during the aforementioned working hours.
The same closures will go into effect for the northbound lanes from June 3 to June 17, when work on DuSable Lake Shore Drive is expected to end.
City officials warn that bad weather and other emergencies could lead to a change in the schedule.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and take alternative routes if possible, with authorities also encouraging residents to use public transportation.
