The Sacramento Kings are finalizing an agreement to hire the long -standing framework of NBA Scott Perry as a new managing director, sources said in ESPN.
Perry, who began his executive career in 2000 with the Detroit Pistons, spent three months with the Kings in 2017 before leaving for the New York Knicks.
Perry will replace Monte McNair, who is as general manager of Kings after the games have mutually accepted his departure after the defeat of the season of Wednesday evening at the Dallas Mavericks in the game tournament.
Perry also worked in front office roles with Orlando Magic and the supersersics then.
McNair spent five seasons to lead the Kings, winning the Executive NBA of the year in 2023 when Sacramento went 48-34 and ended a drought in the 16-year-old NBA qualifiers.
The Kings won 40 or more games in three consecutive seasons under the direction of McNair. Before this sequence, they had won 40 games of any season since 2005-06.
The Kings had a percentage of victory of .488 under McNair. From 2006 to 2007 to when McNair took over, the franchise had a percentage of victory of .362, the second worst of the NBA during this period.
The departure of McNair comes three weeks after the departure of the assistant GM Wes Wilcox to become managing director of the male basketball team at the University of Utah. Wilcox also spent five seasons at the Sacramento Front Office.
