There aren’t many actors who can match the kind of longevity of the superhero genre that Hugh Jackman has had. Jackman debuted as Logan, aka Wolverine, in the 2000s. X-Men and later reprized the role in various films, the latest being 2024. Deadpool and Wolverine. Due to this long tenure, the Australian actor achieved a very impressive record, which he eventually lost to Blade star Wesley Snipes. Jackman was recently informed of his loss and the witty actor shared a very scathing response.
Jackman originally held the Guinness World Record for longest live-action Marvel superhero tenure, with that number rising to 24 years in 2024. However, Snipes – who debuted as Eric Brooks/Blade in 1998 – managed to reclaim that title when he reprized his role in D&W alongside Jackman. This appearance brought Snipes’ move to Marvel to 26 years old. BuzzFeed UK recently discussed Jackman’s record loss and, as seen in the cat’s Instagram video, he had a funny response:
If I had known, I would have banned him. I would have written it…I am literally unfriending him now.

One thing to know about Hugh Jackman is that he loves a joke (and that’s not surprising considering he’s the same man who got into a fake feud with Ryan Reynolds). During his interview, for which he was promoting the film Song Sung Blue, Jackman was also asked if he needed to win that title back. Jackman then thought that he thought it would all depend on who lived longer. As for who would win, Wolverine’s portrayer shared a laugh-worthy take, which can be seen in the video:
Jackman is certainly no slouch, but Wesley Snipes is also a force to be reckoned with in his own right. Snipes’ commanding presence is arguably one of the main reasons he’s so perfect for the role of the Daywalker. In 2024, many were eager to see him reprise his role as Brooks (although the original Blade the author of the trilogy was confused by his appearance). The character’s inclusion in Deadpool and Wolverine was not only special for Snipes himself, but also bodes well for Ryan Reynolds (the lead actor and producer).
Of course, Wolverine’s re-emergence was also a major moment, and Jackman spoke candidly about how Reynolds helped convince him to don those adamantium claws again. Now like Marvel Cinematic Universe movies like Avengers: Apocalypse And Secret Wars As this approaches, Jackman receives questions about whether he will take Logan back at some point. He recently said he would never rule out the possibility, but was mostly playing coy.

Another appearance as the beloved mutant character could help Hugh Jackman regain his title (if Wesley Snipes doesn’t return either, of course). However, considering the amusing thoughts he shared about losing the record, it feels like he doesn’t place as much importance on such accomplishments. Honestly, I like quick-witted actors who don’t take themselves too seriously.
