A few days after the United Nations accused Israel of having killed 15 humanitarian workers in Gaza, officials who recovered the bodies or carried out the autopsies said that some of the rescuers had been shot down several times before being buried in a mass tomb.
Palestine Red Crescent Society, who had eight of its members killed and carried out the recovery mission, said almost the 15 bodies had shown in ball injury, according to a spokesperson, Nebal Farsakh. An ambulancer was found with his hands and feet tied to her body, said Farsakh.
“My colleagues were killed; the bodies that have been recovered, many of them have several shots. We found them all thrown into a mass tomb, the bodies were placed next to each other and covered with sand,” said Farsakh in a telephone interview with Ramallah.
The deaths of humanitarian workers, who disappeared for the first time on March 23, have attracted international conviction in recent days.
That day, in the south of the city of Gaza in Rafah, ambulances and a United Nations vehicle was attacked by the Israeli army, then cut themselves. On Sunday, the rescue teams found 15 bodies, most of them in a graceful mass tomb with their crushed ambulances and the vehicle marked with the UN logo. The United Nations, who are generally cautious about the idea of blaming, accused Israel of having killed them.
An Israeli military spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Nadav Shoshani, said in X that nine of the kilants were Palestinian activists on Monday. He said the Israeli forces “had not attacked an ambulance at random, but that several vehicles” were identified with suspicion “without headlights or emergency signals towards Israeli troops, encouraging them to shoot.
