Some big news about “One Piece” season 2 on Netflix

One Piece was one of Netflix’s biggest success stories of the last year, a worthy adaptation of the anime/manga that was embraced by fans when things could easily have gone the other way.

Now we have some news about One Piece Season 2, which was greenlit shortly after Season 1 went well. A number of new actors have just been added to play different Baroque Works criminals for the next season of the series, known for its very good casting so far. We have:

• Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) – Mr. 9
• Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) – Mr. 5
• Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior) – Miss Valentine
• David Dastmalchian – Mr. 3

Of the names on this list, one that stands out is the omnipresent David Dastmalchian, who has appeared in Oppenheimer, Dune, James Gunn’s Suicide Squad and most recently Late Night with the Devil, a stellar horror film. He’s been incredibly busy with 21 different roles since 2020 alone, and joining the cast is a great addition. Most don’t know his name, but I’m sure he will give a great performance.

Here’s what we know about these characters from the source material:

• M.9 – “The code name of a former border agent and bounty hunter from Baroque Works, and former partner assigned to Miss Wednesday during her infiltration. Due to his actions, he is one of the main antagonists of the Reverse Mountain Arc and a supporting antihero in the Whiskey Peak Arc. He is currently married to Miss Monday.
• M.5 – “Gem of the Border, better known by his alias Mr. 5, was once the lowest-ranked officer agent at Baroque Works along with his partner, Miss Valentine. He now works as a firefighter at the new Spiders Café alongside most of his former colleagues.
• Miss Valentin – “Courier” Mikita, better known by her alias Miss Valentine, is a former agent who was partnered with Mr. 5. Now, she currently works as a chocolatier alongside most of the other members of Baroque Works at the new Spiders Café. She is one of the main antagonists of the Whiskey Peak Arc and a major antagonist of the Little Garden Arc.
• M.3 – “Loan Shark” Galdino, aka Mr. 3, is a former official agent of Baroque Works, alongside his partner Miss Goldenweek. He was the main antagonist of the Little Garden Arc and one of the central characters in Miss Goldenweek’s “Operation: Meet the Baroque Works”, along with the rest of the agents in charge of the Baroque Works.

In other words, here’s our list of villains for next season, or at least part of it. I can’t wait to see what this group of talented actors can do.
