An Orange County Lycée struggle was arrested for suspicion of grooming young female athletes and forcing them to sex, the authorities said.
Anthony Oscar Alcala, 28, from Huntington Beach was arrested on April 3 after the Sheriff’s Department of Orange County investigated the statements that he had sex with two girls between 2017 and 2023, according to a press release. The alleged abuses took place while Alcala worked in secondary schools El Modena and Fothill.
He was sentenced to suspicion of statutory rape, sexual penetration of a minor and oral copulation with a minor under the age of 16 by a person aged 21 or over, according to a spokesperson for the department. Alcala filed a deposit and was released from prison on Friday, the spokesman said.
The Orange County District Prosecutor’s Office is examining the case and an indictment date has not been set, the spokesman said.
The Sheriff department was contacted in February by an organization that strives to reduce sexual assault against athletes. The department then contacted the accusers, who said that Alcala was treated and had sex with them while being a coach.
Investigators believe that there may be additional victims given the generalized access of Alcala to minors. He worked as coach at the private Wrestling Club Premier Wrestling, formerly known as Somar Wrestling, in Placentia, according to the Sheriff department
