Grammy Award-winning rapper Nelly is under fire for his decision to perform at Monday’s inaugural ball, following President Trump’s swearing-in. In a live stream with rapper Willie D, Nelly makes it clear that her decision to perform is not about politics, but out of love for her country.
Nelly also distinguished between supporting a candidate and simply taking action, saying he supports the office of president no matter who holds it.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg headlined this weekend’s “Crypto Ball” alongside rapper Rick Ross, an event that brought together prominent figures from the cryptocurrency industry.
Although Trump was not in attendance at the Crypto Ball, the event was part of this weekend’s inauguration events. Despite the negative online reactions seen in comments on videos of his performance, Snoop Dogg appears unfazed.
Some users pointed out the contradiction, pointing out that Snoop had previously criticized artists who performed at Trump’s first inauguration – calling them “Uncle Tom’s.”
Nelly will be joined at the inaugural ball by the disco group behind the hit song “YMCA” – The Village People – and country singer Jason Aldean.
