BNS Chairman Thomas Jordan says they take climate change very seriously, but emphasizes that:
“We must not give the impression that we can solve all the world’s problems with monetary policy.”
He also adds that the central bank takes into account all risks associated with its investments and has exclusion criteria when making investment decisions. This is of course linked to protests against the SNB, with environmental groups demanding that the Swiss central bank get rid of investments in companies seen as linked to global warming and climate change.
