Rishi Sunak was pictured today posing with a jogger who joked he ‘beat’ the Prime Minister in a 10k run.
Mr Sunak was among hundreds of runners who took part in a race in the North Yorkshire town of Northallerton, in his constituency of Richmond, earlier today.
But after the race Mr Sunak was pictured standing next to ‘avid parkrunner’ Nick Dent, who said he edged the Prime Minister with a time of 47 minutes and 46 seconds in the ‘challenging’ Northallerton race.
“A tough but really happy Northallerton 10K with a chip time of about 47:46 on a hilly course ~ and I beat that guy too…” Mr Dent captioned the photo posted on Twitter. .
The runner’s victory over the Prime Minister came after Mr Sunak said: ‘I haven’t exercised in a long time, I’ve been a bit busy but I’ll try to get it done in less time. one hour.” It’s great to have everyone here so thank you for coming.

Rishi Sunak told a crowd at a 10k run that he hadn’t run in a while ‘because I was a bit busy’ – before joking he would love to run against Penny Mordaunt if she was wearing the coronation sword.
And asked which former prime minister or current minister he would most like to face in a race, the prime minister ignored the crowd’s shouts of ‘Boris’ and instead replied: ‘I’d love to try and do it with Penny Mordaunt with she swords and let’s see if we can handle this.
Ms Mordaunt, the Leader of the House of Commons, has won widespread praise after carrying the 8lb (3.6kg) Sword of State for 51 minutes at the coronation of King Charles earlier this month.
Dressed in a bespoke teal outfit with a matching cape and headband with gold feather embroidery, she held and wore the pieces for the majority of the service – and became one of the coronation stars.
Mr Sunak, wearing a blue top and navy shorts, was running for the Pendragon Community Trust – a multi-sensory center providing a safe space for adults, children and their families.
Speaking about the charity at the event, the Prime Minister added: “Many of you know Pendragon in particular. It’s an absolutely amazing place. It does amazing work for so many families in our community.
Mr Sunak’s visit to his Yorkshire constituency comes as he instructed officials to ‘upgrade’ the honors system in a move that could see more gongs handed to those in the North.
The Prime Minister wants to ensure the “length and breadth” of the UK is represented in the distribution of MBEs, OBEs, CBEs and Knights, a new report has revealed.
“Looking forward, the Prime Minister is determined to ensure that our honors represent the length and breadth of the country,” wrote Mr Dowden, who is also a Cabinet Minister.

Amid her coronation revelations, the 50-year-old opened up about how she tried to relieve some of the physical tension, including taking preventative painkillers for the inevitable muscle aches.
Additionally, she reveals how she opted for less than glamorous shoes for most of the day, donning fluffy slippers as she sat in the cloister, before slipping on her heels at the last possible minute.
