Small plane crashes in San Bernardino – Orange County Register

A small plane crashed in the San Bernardino area Saturday evening and authorities were investigating, police said.

It was not immediately known if anyone survived the crash, which occurred in a “significant debris field” in the area north of Palm Avenue and Verdemont Drive, east of the highway. 215 and Kendall Drive, said San Bernardino Police Sgt. » said Christopher Gray.

The first calls about the crash came in shortly after 8 p.m. and the plane appeared to be a small, twin-engine plane.

The search for survivors was hampered by rainy weather and difficult terrain. Gray said police, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the San Bernardino County Fire Department are investigating and the crash may have occurred within the county’s jurisdiction. The crash site is about a dozen miles northwest of San Bernardino International Airport.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on the plane, where it was flying from and what model it was. A request for comment has been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration.
