Sloppy rocks hammered by double -headed tigers

After the defeat of 10-2 rocky in the 1st match against the Tigers Thursday afternoon, the veteran starter Kyle Freeland was honest and emotional.

When he was asked to compare what his rocks do in shock to transform things in relation to what the teams such as the Tigers and the Royals did, the native of Colorado was frank.

“What they are doing is good, what we do is bad,” he said. “And we are not winning baseball matches. We play a bad baseball brand, all around. Pitcher, align, hit. It’s bad.”

Things did not improve in match 2, which ended with the public service player Alan Trejo by launching the ninth round.

Detroit retaliated, 11-1, to finish a scan of the three-game series and send Colorado to its sixth consecutive loss. By being outlined 21-3 in the double-head (a differential of less than 18), the rocks tied for the greatest differential of negative race in a double-headed scan in the history of the franchise. On July 15, 2019, Colorado lost 2-1 and 19-2 against San Francisco.

For the record, Trejo abandoned a simple head of Colt Keith, made Riley Greene finished in double game and closed the ninth round by inciting Spencer Torkelson to cut short.

The 6-31 Rockies record is tied with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the worst start of 37 games in the modern era. (This did not include teams that played links in the early 1900s). The percentage of Victories .162 of Colorado has the club on the pace to finish 26-136.

It is difficult to imagine that the rocks will play badly for the whole season, but they are stuck in a difficult place at the moment.

“We have to start winning, lose succumbs,” said the defender of the Center d’Or Glove Glod Brenton Doyle, who is stuck in a collapse of 7 for 56 which dropped his average at 0.218. “There are not many guys here who likes to lose, so it was a little difficult. So we have to find a spark. It is just baseball sometimes. You go through difficult sections.”

Manager Bud Black said the solution was to “continue to fight and continue”.

“This is a situation where you cannot crawl under a rock,” he said. “You must continue. You must have the chest and the chin and continue to move forward. That’s all you can do with this group of 26 guys. ”

How bad the match 1 was? Here is an example in four snapshots:

• The second goal player Adael Amador returned to his launch in the inner field of the first round of Strait in two rounds and was accused of an error.

• Trejo smothered Zach McKinstry to the grout at a stop for another error in the five points of the tigers.

• The Hunter Goodman sensor authorized a launch at home to rush under its glove for the third error of Colorado in the two points of the tigers. The error was officially billed to the right defender Mickey Moniak on the throw.

• Freeland showed his frustration by body language one afternoon when he was shaken for nine points (five deserved) on 11 strokes in three sleeves.

Freeland said the mistakes behind him were not what nurtured his agitation on the mound.

“I was frustrated by myself,” he said. “I didn’t make land. Tips were in the area – things that are easy to pick up and hit. ”

While the defense and pitching of Colorado were bad in the first game, his attack was Awol against the right -hander of Detroit, Casey Mize.

Mize granted a point on three strokes, withdrew eight and did not work on six rounds. At one point, Mize posed 13 in a row.

The only color of Colorado came out of Mize in the fifth on a simple nick Martini, a double on the left by Moniak, and a fly of sacrifice by Trejo. The crowd lying in the sun responded with a joy of sarcastic lodo.

Detroit beat 14 shots while the Rockies had four, including a triple of Jordan Beck in the ninth which became the second round of the Rockies on a sacrificial fly by Hunter Goodman.

In Match 2, the Tigers set a right -of -way ambush Tanner Gordon for six points in seven strokes during the third round, The Biggest Blow, a double of three points from Gleyber Torres.

Gordon, called from Triple-A Albuquerque for the beginning, at least gave the Rockies a necessary length on the mound and gave a break to the enclosure of the lifts. He launched 6 1/3 rounds, abandoning seven points over 10 strokes, withdrawing four and walking one.

Keith provided the fireworks of match 2 in seventh round. He struck an imposing 450-foot circuit in the second bridge over the right field off Tyler Kinley.

Freeland, who considers himself a team leader, was frank.

“When you have no momentum for yourself, you have no momentum with your offense or defense, you will have nothing,” he said, describing the current state of the team. “You are trying to throw (stuff) against the wall and see what will stick. This is not a way to win baseball matches on a coherent basis.”

Freeland was then asked what could be said to the fans of the Rockies.

“Continue to believe in us,” he said, starting to tear each other apart. “” Continue to Ridin. “”
