Sky Sports announces major broadcast change for start of EFL season – including historic first
Sky Sports has announced that it will broadcast every match from the opening weekend of the Championship, League One and League Two.
The broadcaster says it will be a first, with more than 1,000 matches broadcast throughout the season.
Each EFL team will be featured at least 20 times, with this figure increasing to 24 times for each Championship club.
It’s part of the launch of Sky Sports+, a new channel which will increase live sport offerings by 50 per cent.
It follows the signing of a new domestic rights deal with broadcaster Sky Sports worth £935 million over a five-year period.
From the 2024/25 season, this new deal with Sky Sports will effectively replace the EFL’s domestic video streaming option provided via iFollow and club streaming services.
Audio services will remain at the national level, alongside existing audio-visual arrangements aimed at international audiences.
The new agreement represents an increase of more than 60 percent over the current value of the rights.
talkSPORT will continue to offer more live radio commentary than any other broadcaster for the 2024/25 season.
We have live commentary from all of the EFL play-offs this season, including all three play-off finals.
