The next Tentpole event on the NFL calendar is the annual Breakers League meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, this week.
During the breakfast of the AFC coaches on Monday morning, head coach Mike Trébel spoke to the media of the state of the patriots in a month until the NFL 2025 draft. Among the many subjects surrounding the team, Trébel has given its impressions on the offseason until now after an aggressive free agency, where the Pats have added several new players, including DT Milton Williams, Wr Stefon Diggs, CB Carlton Davis and others.
“We have won March, what is comic, right? We never try to win March. We want to try to be ready when the season takes place, and it’s a long process,” said Truebel. “What we did was exciting. It was fun to come to work. There is energy in the building, of which I am proud, that when I hear people around the building that may have been there, which makes me happy that everyone is excited.”
After returning the signature official last week, it was the first official press conference of the Patriots head coach since the team signed the star receiver Stefon Diggs. The professional professional quadruple is a key signature to strengthen New England’s game leaders around Drake Maye second-year, in the hope that Diggs can bounce back from a serious knee injury. The 31 -year -old was in place for another season of 100 strokes and 1,000 yards in Houston a year ago before tearing his LCA last October.
“Stefon (Diggs) brings him an energy. It is fun to train players like that. Guys who trust them who understand the football game. It was there,” said Vrabel. “It is not like a choice of draft in the first round. Stefon went later in the draft and continued to improve. (Diggs) continued to be productive each year, but I like his energy. I look forward to bringing him back there and helping him recover from the surgery.”
When the team expects Diggs to be ready to play through the injury, Trebel said: “(I try) to stay away from deadlines and predictions. He works hard to come back, which is exciting. According to all the accounts, everything is in the calendar and we feel good about his Cadrouche.”
Although the buzz around the team following the free agency is undeniable, Truebel also discussed some of the remaining holes on the list and gave an overview of the players that the patriots could potentially target with the overall choice n ° 4 of the April recovery. Regarding the project, Trebel gave a simple answer when he asked him about the plans of the patriots in the first round.
“You tell me who goes one, two and three, and I will tell you who goes four,” joked TrinBel. The head coach of the PATS has not excluded the choice of choice n ° 4 for the right commercial package.
Here are five other points to remember from the Patriot’s head coach’s press conference during annual League annual meetings.
1. Truebel deals with the current state of the left tackle position
On paper, the greatest need of patriots at this stage is the tackle on the left while New England continues to rebuild an offensive line which was statistically among the worst NFL in 2024.
During the initial wave of free agency, the patriots suffocate the place of the right tackle by signing the stable veteran Morgan Moses, who probably locks in the fifth year Mike Onwenu at the right guard. New England has also signed the old departure center for the Vikings Garrett Bradbury, it therefore seems that the three fifths of the offensive line are selected with entries. However, the left side of the line, mainly the premium position of the left tackle on the blind side of Maye, could use a talent infusion.
“The plan is to continue to assess our list and see who we can continue to try to work (in the left tackle). Caedan (Wallace) will certainly have an opportunity because the list is currently built, and Vededrian (Lowe) will return,” Truebel told journalists.
Although everyone deserves a chance to compete, Truebel has recognized that the Patriots will seek help from the offensive tackle in the project. Lowe was the main left tackle for New England last season, ranking 69th out of 81 plated qualified as a pro focus football. As for Wallace, the recruit season of third parties 2024 was derailed by a serious ankle injury, while the product of Penn State was mainly a right tackle at university. Based on the ups and downs that the patriots had at this post a year ago, New England will probably add a very written recruit in the mixture.
“The project will be a good option for us. There are a lot of guys in the project that we love at a lot of different levels. I am confident by the time the season begins that we are going to have something in which we believe and a plan that will help us,” added TrinBel.
2. Truebel discusses the best hopes of Will Campbell and Armand Membou
After discussing the current state of the position of the left tackle, Truebel was questioned about the superior tackle prospects Will Campbell (LSU) and Armand Membou (Missouri).
From this point of view, the two plated are considerations for the patriots with the fourth overall choice. However, Campbell and Membou both have question points. The LSU product does not have the ideal length to play the offensive platform, measuring the seventh centile for the length of the arm (32 ⅝ “) while recording the shortest in order for an offensive tackle to the combination of the NFL since at least 1999 (77 ⅜”). Membou is a more suitable projection to stick to the tackle according to his measurable (6-4, 332 pounds, 33 ½ “weapons), but exclusively played on the right at the University of Missouri.
“These are great talented young players who have an excellent film. Will has a lot of clichés on the left tackle. Membou played right, but there are a lot of guys who played right and left and have changed. They are two good young players that speak in this conversation,” said Trinel.
At the tip of the Pats HC on the Membou overthrow sides, two notable plasteps of the NFL which have passed from right to left are BUCS All-Pro Tristan Wirfs and the future temple of renowned Tryon Smith. Patriots’ head coach was then specifically interviewed on Campbell remaining in the offensive tackle, many suggesting that the LSU product will move inside to keep the NFL.
“I think you have to (consider Campbell as a hoping of tackle),” said Trinel. “I do not understand how you can watch him play in the dry, which is the best conference of university football, against guys who will be drafted in this position. I do not think that you must project it. You can just watch and say that there is his clichés in the left tackle, evaluate it and see what you think.”
On the basis of the remarks of the head coach, the patriots are actively looking for an offensive tackle in the recovery of April, with Truebel pointing options throughout the draft of New England at the post.
