Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned veteran, we think these six tips are important to know before you jump in. Flintlock rifleThe dangerous world full of secrets.

Explore Deeply or Risk Falling Behind

As you explore the world, if it seems like you can reach an area in Flintlock rifleThere’s a good chance you can. This game has an exceptionally vertical world filled with secrets that you can find by jumping or taking rifts to new or hidden locations. These off-the-beaten-path areas will often house essential upgrade materials or new equipment This can be extremely beneficial to your build, so explore thoroughly to find them all or risk being much less powerful than the new areas expect you to be.

Always rush to the sanctuaries of Inaya and the feathers of Enki

Speaking of exploration, there are a handful of Inaya Shrines and Enki Feathers scattered throughout the world. The former increases your total health, while the latter increases the rate at which Enki fills your enemies’ Prime gauge in combat. Shrine and feather icons will appear on your map as you approach themso when you notice one appearing, head towards them immediately to get these helpful perks.

Prioritize weapon upgrades early on

As you find materials through exploration, you’ll soon be able to upgrade various melee weapons, firearms, and armor you discover on your travels. It’s a good idea to save your materials and use them on your favorite weapon (may we recommend the fire-based Messenger’s Axe?), as this will directly increase your damage output.

If you’re as thorough in your exploration as we asked (don’t disappoint us!), you should have enough materials to almost fully upgrade a weapon before completing the first map of the game. This can be a substantial help later on.

Be fruitful and multiply… your reputation

One of Flintlock rifleOne of the most unique features of is its combat multiplier. This mechanic allows you to bet on the amount of reputation (experience) you will receive. By performing certain actions or defeating your enemies in different ways, you will increase your combat multiplier (and therefore your total reputation earned) since your last cashout.

You can swap your reputation at any time by holding the left button on your D-Pad, which will grant you your base experience gained. And the amount multiplied. However, if you take damage at any time before collecting this amount, you only receive the base amount of experience and reset your battle multiplier.

With this in mind, try your luck against enemies with predictable or easy moves that you feel completely comfortable fighting without taking damage. However, if you’re going to face a boss or a difficult enemy that you’re not sure you can dodge or counter perfectly, you should probably go ahead and cash in your reputation rather than risk losing so much well-earned experience.

Scout, prepare, execute

You’ll receive the Marksman Musket after just a few hours of gameplay. This long-range weapon can be used to headshot enemies from a distance, so be sure to scout new areas for enemies that might be hiding above you and take them out with a well-placed headshot, which will usually kill them in one hit.

This musket isn’t just for picking off enemies that are lying in wait for you. If you’re approaching an area with a lot of ground enemies, hang back and look around to see if there are any explosive barrels nearby that you can shoot to gain the upper hand before engaging them in melee combat.

Use Enki constantly in combat

Consistently using his curse attacks in combat, especially against tougher armored enemies, will increase their Bounty Gauge, allowing you to eventually unleash a powerful critical attack. Additionally, Cursed Stones, items you find while exploring, can be equipped on Enki, granting him additional status effects to apply when using his attacks in combat. Applying these status effects to your enemies can make them easier to take down, ensuring that your adventure through Flintlock is a lot less stressful.

Flintlock rifle makes the experience much more accessible than other Soullikes. That said, you should take every opportunity possible to find new gear and fight more effectively in each battle.
