IMPERIAL BEACH —
Seven people, including a minor, were arrested by Border Patrol agents after a suspected smuggling boat disembarked Tuesday morning in Imperial Beach, officials said.
A Customs and Border Protection helicopter spotted the boat crossing the maritime border into U.S. territorial waters around 6 a.m., according to Eric C. Lavergne, an agency spokesman.
Federal officials monitored the vessel as it headed north along the coast until it landed on shore near Cortez Avenue and Sea Coast Drive, where six adults and the juvenile got off from the boat, Lavergne said.
Agents seized the vessel, arrested the group and took them to a Border Patrol station for processing.
