“Sinners” climbed to the box office during the Easter weekend, but the salvation of Warner Bros film is not yet there.
The highly anticipated classified vampire drama which takes place at the time of Jim Crow exceeded the box office by taking around 45 million dollars during its opening weekend, including Thursday, Deadline reported.
The press release also cost $ 15.4 million internationally, for a global count of around 60 million dollars, per variety.
“Sinners” unexpectedly was ahead of “a Minecraft film”, another release from Warner Bros., to take first place in the United States this weekend after exceeding the projections of around $ 15 million.
The film, directed, written and produced by Ryan Coogler, is its first original story since its beginnings as a director in 2013, following a series of franchise continuations, including “Creed” (2015) and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (2023).

Standing Michael B. Jordan in two roles, he follows the twin brothers who return to their hometown of Mississippi to open a new JUKE joint, only to discover an army of vampires who awaits them. He also features Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku and Jayme Lawson.
The film received praise from criticism and also has a 97% audience partition on Rotten Tomatoes.
The New York Times reported that Warner Bros. Has Greater on “Finsurers”, spending at least $ 90 million to give life to the vision of coogulating, as well as an additional $ 60 million in international marketing costs.
A rare and lucrative remuneration agreement that Coogler has concluded with the studio means that it will receive part of its income from the box office before Warners reveals a profit.
Vulture said that Warner Bros. agreed to give an unscpecified percentage of raw ticket sales to coogulate before the studio deduces the costs.

Sony and Universal also tried to hang on “sinners”, so to conclude the agreement with the director nominated for the Oscars, Warners also made other concessions.
These include giving a word to be coogued on the film’s final cup and ownership of the film from the film 25 years after its release.
Coogler previously declared to Business Insider that “the only motivation” for him to add this particular clause in the agreement was because of the way it reflected the theme of the black ownership, which is explored in the film.
Coogler said he has none of his other films and did not intend to have future titles.
Nevertheless, it is a rare affair in Hollywood and puts coogler among a group of elite filmmakers who can command such power in negotiations.
The representatives of Coogler and Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
