“When we talk about feeling overstimulated, I think technology is a very relevant topic,” Riaz said.
Between texts, emails, and social media notifications, it’s easy to reach sensory overload. “I think people are kind of excited and attracted to these notifications, and now we’re in a society where it’s completely normal to glance at your phone, whereas maybe 30 years ago we were just present, we were right here,” Riaz said.
Although many of us are addicted to our phones, we actually crave peace and being in the moment – two things phones don’t offer. With the constant influx of information, plus real daily life outside of technology, it’s no wonder we’re all overstimulated.
