Simon Jordan issues surprising verdict on Deontay Wilder fight as pundits gives full 5 vs 5 predictions

Boxing experts Simon Jordan and Spencer Oliver have released their full predictions for the 5v5 boxing tournament.

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn have selected five fighters each to face off in a huge boxing tournament on June 1, headlined by Deontay Wilder’s return to heavyweight against Zhilei Zhang.

The “Bronze Bomber” had looked lackluster in his points loss to Joseph Parker in December, but opted to return to the ring and try his luck one last time against “Big Bang.”

While appearing on the talkSPORT show White & Jordan, Oliver and Jordan were asked to give their predictions for each fight.

Jordan said: “If we go by Wilder’s bankability and go by the discussions we’ve had about Wilder not having much left, he’s bankable rather than bankable.”

When asked for his prediction, he replied: “Who cares?

Oliver then picked Zhang to beat Wilder, who himself is looking to bounce back from a March loss to Parker.

The card is stacked with talent in the remaining four fights, with Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic expected to meet for the IBF title, should the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk on May 18 vacate it.

Jordan and Oliver unanimously chose Dubois to beat Hrgovic at White’s request.

The next fight on the card will see Nick Ball challenge undefeated American Raymond Ford for his WBA featherweight world title.

Oliver and Jordan also unanimously backed Merseyside star Ball to get the job done that night.

In the two remaining competitions, Hamzah Sheeraz takes on Hearn’s choice Ammo Williams, while Warren’s Willy Hutchinson battles with Craig Richards in an all-British clash.

And both boxing analysts went on to say that Sheeraz and Richards would gain the upper hand, with both men unanimous across the card.

This is a pivotal moment in the career of Wilder, who could choose to retire immediately if he loses for the fourth time in his professional career.

But a win could give him one last opportunity to mix things up at the world level, and he believes it could even secure him a mega-fight with Anthony Joshua.

It’s an exciting dynamic in the heavyweight division, with Joshua patiently waiting to see who he might fight on his scheduled date in September.

And Oliver went on to suggest that Wilder could still be ruled out, with his planned road map seeing Joshua prepare to meet the winner of Hrgovic’s clash with Dubois in the UK.

He added: “I think Fury vs. Usyk will have the two-fight deal finalized by the end of the year.

“Then I think the winner of the vacant IBF title fight between Dubois and Hrgovic will face Joshua in September at Wembley Stadium with another 5-on-5 on the undercard.

“At that point, I think Fury and Usyk will no longer be tied to what they do, and the winner of the Joshua fight in September will face the winner of Fury’s clash with Usyk.”

It’s sure to be a huge night of action this summer, with real dangers in every showdown on the card.
