‘Sign him in the showers’ – Celtic fans demand contract for loanee who scored against Rangers

Celtic loanee Adam Idah won the Scottish Cup with his latest goal against Rangers and the fans want him for good.

In a low-key, uneventful affair, the Scottish Cup final came alive when Idah scored in the 90th minute to retain their trophy.

A wayward shot was palmed away by Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland and Idah gobbled up the rebound to break the hearts of the Glasgow half.

The 23-year-old only signed for Celtic on deadline day of the winter transfer window, arriving from Norwich on loan.

And fans are desperate to see the Republic of Ireland international stay permanently after scoring his ninth goal for the Hoops.

One fan responded by saying: “Celtic football clubs are winners and show it year after year! Sign Adam Idah in the showers.”

Another wrote emphatically: “SIGN IT PERMANENTLY.”

Dismissing his eight goals in the Scottish Premiership, another fan said: “Adam Idah won us the league and cup double. Sign him up.”

A fourth fan said: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Sign Adam Idah.”

While another wrote: “No matter how much Adam Idah costs this summer, whether it’s £3/4/5/6m, Celtic have never had more money in the bank than this year, and the boy has done more than enough to deserve his decision.

Even former Celtic star and Norwich defender Shane Duffy, who played with Idah at Carrow Road, said: “WHAT A MAN.

Idah spoke about his future amid the celebrations and admitted he could stay at Parkhead.

Simon Jordan hits back at Sir Rod Stewart in anti-Scottish football rant after star tells him to ‘shut up’

He told BBC Scotland: “I said I would come here to try and score as many goals as possible, I didn’t think I would score a goal like this in front of all these fans. It’s an incredible feeling .

“It’s difficult to express in words. Everyone here can see what it means for the fans, for the players. I’ve always supported Celtic, it’s incredible.

“Football is tricky. I love it here, I’ve said it before, it’s a big club but I’m still contracted to Norwich. I’ll go back in the summer and who knows?”

Celtic have now completed the double after winning the championship earlier this month while Joe Hart announced his retirement at the end of the season, meaning he clinched silverware in his final match.
