Arlington, Texas – Shohei Ohtani announced the birth of his first child on Saturday, displaying on Instagram that he and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, welcomed a little girl.
“I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our beautiful daughter in good health,” wrote Ohtani in her article. “To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous but super anxious parents.”
Ohtani has been on the paternity list since Friday and stayed in Los Angeles during the Dodgers trip to Texas to face the Rangers this weekend in anticipation of the birth.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Saturday afternoon – before learning that the baby had arrived – that Ohtani was able to be back in the programming for the final of the Sunday series, although no plan was finalized.
“I hope,” said Roberts.
Ohtani announced for the first time that he and Tanaka were waiting in December. The couple got married the same winter as Ohtani signed their $ 700 million contract over 10 years with the Dodgers.
During an interview at the game of the Fox broadcast on Saturday, Roberts said: “Everyone in baseball, the Dodger family, is so excited for Shohei and Mamiko. Congratulations, Sho!”
