Shohei Ohtani injured against Padres, unlikely to play for Dodgers Sunday

Shohei Ohtani was removed from the Dodgers’ game against the San Diego Padres in the ninth inning after being pinch-hit. This decision was seen as more prudent and manager Dave Roberts confirmed it after the match had finished. His back appeared to tighten and Los Angeles decided it was best for him to leave the game.

With little concern, the Dodgers may have avoided disaster. He probably won’t be in the lineup for the series finale against the Padres, but that’s the best news Los Angeles could hope for.

The hope is that Ohtani won’t be out too long and can return to the lineup sooner rather than later.
