Phoenix – Land. A swing. Pure and undoubted sound.
One night, the roof was open, the air was hot and the dodgers were engaged in a classic of Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks, that’s what the craziest game of their season resisted.
Shohei Ohtani’s Batches crack – punctuating a fascinating competition in early May with another indelible magic moment on demand.
“How many times have you heard?” His teammate Max Muncy was amazed. “Sho continues to put yourself in these places that you expect from the incredible – and he rarely disappoints.”
Indeed, with two on and one withdrawal and the score equal to the ninth, Ohtani finished a wild rally of six points with a Home Run of three sleeves on the head of the right.
He raised the Dodgers to a 14-11 victory, the one that felt impossible after having wasted a five-point lead earlier in the match. It let Ohtani apparently try to withdraw, stretching your arms and beating your hands after throwing your bat and sliding the first base line.

Until then, the Friday intradivision shooting already included everything else.
Wild lead changes and sudden movement changes. Rockets with online driving and imposing domestic constituencies. Even the ejection of the launch coach of the Dodgers Mark Prior, when a bad call call contributed to the collapse of the game of his team.
Above all, however, there was Ohtani – meeting another moment, rising again on occasion.
“For us to mark a lot, so that they will come back, so that we see again,” said Ohtani through the interpreter Will Ireton, “it was a game with a lot of passion.”
The manager added Dave Roberts: “He sees his teammates fighting and the guys trying to keep us in the ball game, so it was a bit of the highlight of this moment. It’s good to see him showing emotions like that. It was great.”
Ohtani spent a big night before the ninth, doubled twice during an early offensive attack which gave the Dodgers (26-13) an advance of 8-3.
The Diamondbacks (20-19) responded, marking eight unanswered points during the following five rounds to overthrow the scoring in their favor, 11-8.
Four strikers in the ninth, however, the dodgers had once again tilted the rocking.

A single at the head of Freddie Freeman was followed by a double consecutive of the doubles of Andy Pages and Kiké Hernández, reducing what was a deficit from 11-8 to 11-10. Muncy knotted the scoring by hitting a simple right. Then, when Michael Comforto was hit with land with a withdrawal, the Diamondbacks faced a decision.
The Arizona could have launched with care with Ohtani and risking a walk that would have charged the bases but also set up a force with each bag. Instead, they replaced Kevin Ginkel closer with the right -hander of the Ryan Thompson’s right -wing weapon, letting him attack the national league MVP in the hope that his funky delivery could keep Ohtani unbalanced.
He couldn’t. In an account of 1 and 2, Thompson launched a separator who remained standing in the middle. Ohtani forced him 426 feet to the stands of the right field. The sound of the bat alone is no doubt about the place where it would land.
“Between him and Barry Bonds, these are the two best players I have ever seen,” said Roberts, when he was asked if the heroic of Ohtani never ceases to amaze. “I played with Barry. But what Shohei does in the clutch – I have never seen anything of what he does in the clutch. ”
Shouting through the play in the post-match clubhouse in the Dodgers, the alert Austin Barnes receiver summarized it even more succinctly.
“The monster,” he shouted, “come back!”
Even before the first launch, Friday had the creation of a case at high scoring.
Eduardo Rodríguez, the veteran left-hander who blocked two seasons there is a contained deadline of the day of the Detroit deadline in Dodgers, entered the night with an MPM of 5.92 and faced a range of right-handed dodgers, with a French-bassard Lefty Sluggers Muncy and Conforto fell to the bench.
Roki Sasaki, meanwhile, presented five days of rest (as opposed to six) for the first time in his career. He threw a dry climate from Arizona which can often influence the execution of the rupture grounds. And, consequently, there was an additional importance on a quick ball which has disappointed so far this season, on average well below the three -digit readings which he hoped to rediscover.
From the jump, the diamondbacks took advantage of it.
While Rodríguez abandoned a round during the first round after a double of Ohtani, Sasaki was caught for three. Ketel Marte struck a solo home run around the right -of -the -market post. Eugenio Suárez completed an explosion of two points.
The circuits were the fifth and sixth that Sasaki abandoned in his last five outings. And everyone came against his quick ball, a terrain that gave a lot of hard contact while obtaining very little swing-and-miss-especially without traffic jams on Friday.
“It is still really still in this process of discovering the deep cause (is),” said the 23 -year -old right -hander, who has finished giving five points in four rounds to increase his ERA to 4.72.
The Dodgers had their own answer in the second, equaling the match on the sixth blow from Hernández of the season and the second double of Ohtani in as many sleeves.
Then, in the third, the Dodgers apparently took control of the game, exploding for five points on four strokes and three goals on balls while sending 11 marble strikers – in a round where the three withdrawals were recorded by Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freeman.
During his first handle of the Channel, Freeman framed a double on the line to put two runners in the rating position. The pages followed with a single two points on the left. Hernández and Miguel Rojas loaded the bases with a simple and a walk. Still with anyone, James Outman hit the ball on the ground that Arizona was looking for, but a wandering launch in the plate allowed two other points to score. Betts then nailed to a sacrificial fly.
This should have been enough for the dodgers, carrying the head of 8-3 which followed in the fourth.
But that evening, no advance has ever been sure.
Sasaki was withdrawn after emitting a march in the lead in the fifth, the head having been cut at 8-4 at this stage. Its replacement, Anthony Banda, failed to stem a rotating tide.
At less than three strikers, the diamondsbacks had the base. With two withdrawals, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. swung large in a lead down. Banda turned to watch him fly for a big home, the evening of the scoring at 8-8.

“I just felt that the offensive had done enough to win the match at that time, and so as not to launch well, it’s frustrating,” said Roberts. “I just think we are better that we have launched.”
The round of the Diamondbacks marked in the middle of the more controversial circumstances, while the right-hander Luis García tried to escape another jam of two bases, two outfits which he inherited from Banda in the sixth.
In a complete count with Suarez, he launched a high sweeper that seemed to catch the top of the typing area. Marble referee Jeremie Rehak, however, judged that it was a bullet that worked in a race.
After the Channel, she barked in Rehak from the canoe, triggering her ejection. Roberts then ran to Rehak for a lively conference.
“There have been locations that swung the number, and certainly that Luis García At-Tas in Suárez, who changed this round, the dashboard,” said Roberts. “It becomes emotional, always. And so obviously, it’s nothing personal. You cannot discuss balls and strikes. ”
In the eighth, it was the Diamondbacks turn to put the match out of reach, hitting Alex Vesia’s consecutive humes for an advance of 11-8.
But, once again, no advance on this night has never been safe.
Especially not once the dodgers made Ohtani back down to the plate.
