This is the shocking moment thieves broke into a Nationwide branch to steal a cash machine in an early morning raid.

Video footage taken at 5.30am today shows a telescopic dolly ripping the ATM out of the wall in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, before loading it into a van.

Police, called to the scene a short time later, said both vehicles had been reported stolen.

Three men fled the scene and left the telescopic vehicle behind, the force added.

Footage shared on social media shows the telehandler heading towards the construction company, then reversing to the sound of loud collisions, apparently with the ATM in tow.

The truck was initially believed to have been parked at a pub on the same street, Bishop’s Stratford Independent reported.

“In the meantime, customers can visit one of our nearby branches for a face-to-face service, such as Bishop’s Stortford or Harlow. We recommend checking locations and opening hours on our website.
