A football fan appeared to headbutt a security guard during shocking scenes at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday.
A ruckus has broken out ahead of the Wests Tigers’ clash with the Brisbane Broncos in Sydney, with around 20 people involved in a melee in the stands.
Video footage showed a man dressed in a charcoal black T-shirt allegedly head-butting a security guard wearing high-visibility clothing before being taken to the ground.
Bystanders were heard gasping in disbelief after the alleged attacker appeared angry with another fan. He reacted violently to the security guard.
A woman was heard shouting, “What the fuck,” while a police officer was present at the scene and was soon joined by another officer.
Football fan allegedly headbutted security guard before match on Saturday
The video was posted to X – formerly known as Twitter – with the caption: “Just another day in the league where a fan headbutts security.
“Almost no security/police presence compared to an A-League match.”
Campbelltown Stadium management should review the footage before considering their next steps.
The Broncos won the game 34-10 on Saturday.
