Shipping Corporation of India’s net profit falls 19% to ₹307 crore, declares dividend

State-owned Shipping Corporation of India Ltd on Friday reported a 19 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) decline in net profit at ₹307.3 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2024 .

During the corresponding quarter, the Shipping Corporation of India recorded a net profit of ₹380 crore, the company said in a regulatory filing. The company’s operating revenue fell 0.4 per cent to ₹1,412 crore from ₹1,418 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

At the operational level, EBITDA slipped 12.3 per cent to ₹406 crore in the fourth quarter of this fiscal, compared to ₹463 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

EBITDA margin stood at 28.8% during the reported quarter compared to 32.7% in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. EBITDA is earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.

The Board of Directors has recommended a dividend of ₹0.50 per equity share of face value of ₹10 each, or 5% per share, subject to shareholder approval at the Annual General Meeting ( AGM) of the company. Said dividend, if declared, would be paid within 30 days from the date of its declaration at the General Meeting.

The results came after the close of market hours. Shares of Shipping Corporation of India Ltd ended at ₹234.75, up ₹1.45, or 0.62 per cent on the BSE.
