Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Gets First Big Discount on Amazon

Shin Megami Tensei V: Revenge just The game launched last month, but it’s already been heavily discounted as part of the Amazon Prime Day 2024 sales festivities. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, your patience has been rewarded. Vengeance is available for just $40 (was $60) at several major retailers, including Walmart, Amazon, GameStop, and Target. We expect this deal to be popular, especially since the launch edition, which comes with a steel case, is included while supplies last.

Walmart is offering the Steelbook Launch Edition for $40 for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox. Currently, only the Nintendo Switch and Xbox versions of Vengeance are included in Amazon’s promotion. At Target, both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 editions are eligible for the discount. If you’re shopping at GameStop, you can choose one of three console platforms for this deal.

Vengeance offers a lot more than the average “definitive” edition. A little further into the story, you have the choice to continue through the original storyline or embark on an entirely different path dubbed the Canon of Vengeance. While it varies by player, Vengeance adds about 75 hours of new content to the SMT V experience. And if you’ve never played it before, you’re essentially getting two games in one package.

Shin Megami Tensei V was originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but Vengeance brought the turn-based RPG to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It scored a 9/10 in our Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance review.

“Everything that made Shin Megami Tensei V a memorable and captivating experience is still there in Vengeance, just polished and massaged into an even better game,” wrote reviewer Heidi Kemps. “It’s easier to connect with the story: having other human characters in your party and engaging them in small talk goes a long way in making the events unfolding around them more impactful. Plus, the various tweaks to navigation, combat, and demon hunting allow you to focus more on the dark atmosphere and combat strategies. If you didn’t enter the tunnel leading to the underworld the first time around, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. And if you’re a veteran of the war for the throne, there’s plenty to keep you coming back.”

Vengeance isn’t the only RPG deal worth checking out ahead of Prime Day 2024:
