Sharkninja recalls more than 1.8 million cuisers after receiving more than 100 reports of burning injuries, the federal security regulators announced on Thursday. The injuries have caused more than two dozen prosecution against society.
The company, based in Needham, in the Mass., Recalls its multi-function pressure cooker Ninja Foodi Op300, which also works as an air fryer, after customers have reported that the pressure cooker cover could be opened during use and hot foods could “escape” and pose a burning risk.
Affected products have a capacity of 6.5 quarters, said the American consumer product safety commission in a recall notice. The company sold around 1.85 million devices in the United States and around 184,000 in Canada, the agency said.
Sharkninja received 106 reports from injuries to burns, including more than 50 burning reports in the second or third degree in the face or body, said the security committee, adding that 26 prosecutions were filed against the company.
“The security of our customers is an absolute priority for Sharkninja,” said the company in a statement on Thursday, noting that it cooperated with the security committee.
“This deals with reports that some consumers were able to open up the covers cooked at the pressure of certain units of these cooks during use, resulting in combustion of hot content,” added the company.
The devices were sold for around $ 200 with retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon and Target and online on Ninjakitchen.com from January 2019 to March 2025, said the Commission.
People who bought the devices should immediately stop using the pressure cooking function and contact Sharkninja for a free replacement cover, the Commission said.
“Consumers can continue to use product frying and other functions,” said the recall.
The affected model numbers, which are listed in the recall notice, are on a label on the side of the stove.
