Shannon Sharpe announced that he was putting himself next to his ESPN commitments after being touched by a rape trial of $ 50 million.
Sharpe, 56, was accused of rape by a woman who is now in his twenties whom he met at the age of 19.
Sharpe said, “My declaration is found here and that is the truth. The relationship in question was 100% consensual.
“At this point, I choose to temporarily withdraw from my ESPN functions.
“I will devote this time to my family, and answer and face these false and disturbing allegations against me. I intend to return to ESPN at the start of the pre-season of the NFL.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and continuous support that I have received from my family, fans, friends and colleagues.”
