Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Lake and McHenry counties – NBC Chicago

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Lake and McHenry counties, alerting to possible wind gusts of 60 miles per hour Sunday evening.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 7:45 p.m. According to the NWS, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near Wind Point to near Yorkville to near Wheatland at Walworth, moving southeast at 55 miles per hour. .

Wind gusts of 60 miles per hour are possible, forecasters said, noting that people should expect damage to roofs, siding and trees.

A separate severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Kenosha County in southeastern Wisconsin through 7:15 p.m.

That warning went into effect after severe thunderstorms were located along a line stretching south from Milwaukee to Como, moving southeast at 40 miles per hour, according to the NWS.

Nickel-sized hail and wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible, as is damage to roofs, siding and trees.
