Several people were killed and others injured by a man who opened fire with a bow and arrows in a town in Norway, local police said.
The suspect was apprehended after the attack on Wednesday evening in the town of Kongsberg, 80 km southwest of the capital, Oslo, a police spokesperson said.
“The man was apprehended (…) according to the information we now have, this person carried out these actions alone,” police chief Øyvind Aas told reporters. “Several people were injured and several died.”
He declined to comment on the number of victims, but said there were “multiple crime scenes”.
Local media reported a large emergency response operation in the city, involving armed police, two helicopters and more than 10 ambulances.
Norwegian Justice and Public Safety Minister Monica Maeland received updates on the attacks and was monitoring the situation closely, the ministry said.
