The communities of the southern half of Minnesota saw more destruction after a second round of strong storms on Monday.
Minneapolis – While a second cycle of storms crossed the southern half of the state on Monday evening, bringing heavy rain, hail the size of a quarter size and intense winds with potential to reach up to 70 MPH.
Communities like Edina, Eagan, Inver Grove Heights, Columbia Heights, Winstead and South St. Paul reported that have broken down, while residents throughout the metro have reported power outages.
At 11 p.m., more than 130,000 Xcel Energy customers were electricity.
Around the same time on Monday, a burst of 70 MPH was recorded at Owatonna airport. Until then, the strongest burst of the day has been recorded in New Prague at 64 MPH – with reports in other burst zones from 55 to 65 MPH.
Just before 11 p.m., the Kare 11 weather team reported that the storm was moving southeast of twin cities and heading for Wisconsin at 45 mph.
