Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Reveals Lyme Disease Diagnosis

Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanianwas diagnosed with Lyme disease.

After undergoing full body scans, the Reddit co-founder and father of two, 41, shared his health update on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday.

“I went through a full battery of medical tests, etc. and found out I have Lyme disease,” he wrote. “This is crazy. No symptoms, thankfully, but I’m going to get treatment. Good cholesterol is too low. Bad cholesterol is just OK. I need to work on that. The positive side: 822 ng/dL total + 162 ng/dL free testosterone.”

He added: “I have a relative who suffered from this a few years ago, had tons of symptoms, etc. and couldn’t figure it out until they tested and found it (and successfully treated it). I spend so little time in nature/the Northeast that this was a real surprise.”

Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi that is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionTypical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and rash. Untreated Lyme disease can produce a wide range of symptoms, which can include facial paralysis, irregular heartbeat, and arthritis.

Many stars have spoken openly about their battles with Lyme disease, including Justin Bieber, Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, Amy Schumer, Yolanda Hadid And Bella Hadid.

Ohanian remains positive about his diagnosis.

“Anyway I’m going to take antibiotics, you can’t hold me back, tic!” he tweeted.

Ohanian spoke with ET on the red carpet of the 2024 ESPY Awards Thursday, where he supported his wife, who hostedand brought their 6-year-old daughter, Olympialike its date. Baby Adirawho will be 1 year old next month, was not present.

“They are good,” Ohanian told ET of Her daughters“I’m a very proud dad. Olympia is almost 7 and it’s a fun night for her to cheer on mommy with me.”
