Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) plans to introduce the ‘FAUCI law’ after a heated exchange with Dr. Anthony Fauci during a Senate hearing this week on the chief medical adviser’s financial disclosures.

A spokesperson for the senator told the hill Thursday that Marshall created the Financial Accountability for Single Compensation Individuals (FAUCI) Act because “Fauci’s records were not readily available to the public,” the report said.

The legislation would require the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) website to provide the financial records of “administration officials like Fauci” and a list of government officials whose financial records are not publicly available.

The move comes after Marshall pressed Fauci over his disclosures during Tuesday’s hearing, at which the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases became visibly irritated, claiming the records were publicly available. and insisted that Marshall was “misinformed”. At the end of the exchange, a hot mic caught Fauci saying, “What a jerk. Jesus Christ.” Fauci, who is also the president’s chief medical adviser, is would have the highest paid employee in the entire US federal government.

The next day, Marshall sent Fauci an official letter demanding copies of Fauci’s financial disclosures by January 14 at 5:00 p.m. In the letter, Marshall pointed to a report from Forbes contributor Adam Andrzejewski. In an article titled “No, Fauci’s tapes are not available online.” Why doesn’t the NIH release them immediately? Andrzejewski wrote that the NIH failed to provide several documents requested by the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), including conflict of interest disclosures, financial disclosures, and royalty payments.

Andrzejewski notably directs, which sues the NIH for the production of these discs. According to its report, the NIH has approximately 1,200 pages relating to Fauci’s financial information and conflict of interest disclosures, and has agreed to publish 300 pages per month as of February 1.

Marshall also said several of his own requests for information from Fauci’s office “took months to respond or are still pending.”
