Selma Unified employee arrested on alleged child sex abuse charges and released on bond

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Selma Unified School District employee was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple child sexual abuse charges, according to the Selma Police Department. The school district said the charge involved “inappropriate interactions with a female student.”

Selma police said they arrested Selena Perez, 26, of Selma on Wednesday; she posted bond and got out of jail the same day.

Perez was booked into the Fresno County Jail on several criminal charges, including lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, sexual assault, arranging to meet with a minor and committing annoying and harassing a child under 18 years of age.

The Selma Unified School District released the following statement.

We were informed on April 10 that a campus security assistant was accused of having inappropriate interactions with a student. The employee, who works at our college, was removed from campus by our campus school resource officer, who is a police officer working on school grounds.
