Selma Blair says participating in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ gives her the ‘gift of a lifetime’ as she battles multiple sclerosis

LOS ANGELES– Among the 16 new contestants entering this ballroom this season on “Dancing with the Stars” is actress Selma Blair.

Last fall, Selma shared her experiences with multiple sclerosis while filming a documentary, “Introducing Selma Blair.” Now, she says she is invigorated by this new challenge.

Blair says a big part of her motivation comes from the support she’s received since her film’s release.

Blair calls it a “new chapter,” not just in her healing, but in finding strength in others. And she’ll get much of that strength from professional dancer Sasha Farber.

“It’s my first time stepping into the lights, on a set, with a partner, with all of that. It’s something that I’ve stepped away from to heal and recover, and that’s exactly what the doctor ordered,” Blair said.

“With MS, it makes it hard,” Farber said. “And we came to see what it would be like, and she was moving, inspiring, and it’s not just a lesson. You actually see someone one to transform before your eyes.”

“To think that I can move and then have all this attention on me, from a partner who teaches me, is a gift of a lifetime,” Blair said.

“Dancing with the Stars” airs live Monday night on Disney+.

Disney is the parent company of this resort.
