The 27-year-old sadly made more money from Instagram than she earned fighting in the UFC

“My whole career has been built from the UFC,” VanZant told MMA Fighting, ”in early July.

“I was in the UFC for, like, six years. It was very scary. Few people left the UFC early in their careers.

“There were a lot of veterans who had left the UFC who were in the tail a bit, looking for a few more fights.

“For me, I was a free agent at 26. I was really young. It was scary to know that you were leaving the combat sports center. But now I know it was the best decision I ever made.

“Since I left I’ve seen several fighters leave the UFC – and that’s not necessarily a problem in the UFC, but I think it’s more of a wake-up call for the fighters, knowing that he there is money out there and that we are going to be compensated for what we do.

VanZant says it has pushed back calls to launch an exclusive content subscription website, fearing it could hurt future brand partnerships it may pursue.

Still, she changed her mind once she learned of the financial benefits.

“There was always this coming and going,” she added. “There are two sides.

“I didn’t want to put myself in a position where I would lose business opportunities by having an exclusive content site, but I feel like I’m already seen as a sex symbol in the sports world.

“I might as well have the monetization behind it. I wanted to do it on my own terms.

“So I joined Fan Time, it’s a separate company. I am not with OnlyFans. It’s my own website and I have a lot of control over what goes on there. It’s basically me who does exclusive things. I am proud to say that I am one of them.

“I work hard for my body. I work hard for who I am, and there’s a side of me that’s extremely feminine and feminine, and I can share that on my fan site. Now I think it’s getting a lot more acceptable.

“Before, OnlyFans were seen more as pornstars. It was a bit more X-rated, just public view.

“I’m not saying that’s actually what people have there, but I wanted to do it my way. I wanted to do it professionally and have my own website and that’s what I did.
