See the best-dressed stars and biggest moments from the 2024 Met Gala

NEW YORK — The 2024 Met Gala saw hundreds of celebrities dressed in their best outfits for the biggest evening in fashion.

Flowers took center stage on the green carpet as the stars arrived for one of the most star-studded events and secret celebrations of the year.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fundraiser is reserved for the biggest names in fashion, film and art. Customers take risks, think big and try to steal the scene.

“It’s a celebration of creativity and individuality,” said Kylie Minogue.

THE “Garden of Time” the dress code celebrated nature as a metaphor for the transience of fashion.

“I always honor the garden of time by trying to stay in the present moment,” Jonathan Groff said.

Cardi B shuts down the red carpet

There were a lot of great moments and great looks.

Cardi B needed eight masters to help her and her dress the museum steps, Lana Del Ray came with an antler helmet, and Lizzo needed help turning her head.

The Met Gala marks the opening of the museum’s spring 2024 exhibition, titled “Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakens.” There will be 250 rare historical garments on display, including some pieces so fragile they can’t even be worn by models.

“I’ve heard that some of the pieces are incredibly old and fragile, so I’ll make sure I don’t fall or knock over any of the pieces on display,” said Alexander Skarsgård.

Actress Lily Gladstone worked with an Indigenous designer on her dress adorned with nearly 500 silver stars.

“And they are all shaped like constellations that you would see on the Great Plains at the summer solstice,” Gladstone said.

Zendaya walks the red carpet twice

Costume changes came from Demi Moore and Zendaya, one of the hosts of the gala that walked the carpet not once, but twice.

“It’s also an evening that requires a lot of work to put together, and then a lot of support for the fashion industry, which for me is a total art,” said Penélope Cruz.

The evening was not only for Hollywood’s hottest actors, but also those from Broadway, including Tony-nominated leads from “Cabaret.”

“Tonight I’m on the water. It’ll be a sweet night for me because I have a night off from the show,” Eddie Redmayne said.

“I’m honoring the original Sally Bowles, who wore a beret like this, and giving her flowers,” Gayle Rankin said.

Between the opulent outfits and the star-studded lineup, it’s hard to compare the Met Gala any other night.

“I’m looking forward to being with friends,” Dan Levy said.

“When you step on the mat, it’s tee time, it’s game 7. And hopefully at the end of the match, I look at my stats, I hope I did well when I see the photos come out,” the retired NBA star said. Dwayne Wade.

A single ticket to this year’s Met Gala started at $75,000, and tables started at $350,000. The gala is the Costume Institute’s primary fundraiser and raised $22 million last year.
