See Inside a Startup’s $279,000, Solar-Powered Tiny Home ADU
- San Francisco startup Cosmic is selling its first 100 prefab ADUs starting at $279,000 for a studio.
- Small backyard houses could generate enough energy to provide a “power plant” for the main house.
- Profits and a recent funding round would be used to improve its manufacturing process.
Entrepreneur Sasha Jokic dreams of ending global housing insecurity by manufacturing prefabricated multi-family residences for low-income families.
To do that, his San Francisco-based startup Cosmic is now selling its first 100 tiny homes starting at $279,000 for a 385-square-foot studio.
Ironic, yes. But Jokic says this is the first step: Revenue from the sale of those 100 accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, would be reinvested in the startup’s manufacturing process, putting it on a path to building high quality homes faster and cheaper.
